Gayathri Venkataraghavan
Smt.Gayathri Venkataraghavan received her initial training in the art of Carnatic music from Smt.Padma Veeraraghavan herself a disciple of Sri.Palaghat K.V.Narayanaswamy. Later she learnt various compositions from Smt.Rukmini Ramani, SriV.Subramaniam and Smt.Lakshmi Natarajan.She has been undergoing rigorous training under Vidwan Sri.A.Sundaresan for many years now.
Winner of the All India Radio Competition in 1993 she is an A grade artist of All India Radio and has been associated with the AIR in various programs for Broadcast and archival purposes. The AIR and Doordarshan programs include a National Broadcast and a South Zone program.
She has won various concert prizes from different sabhas and organizations.She has been consistently winning Concert Prizes from the The Music Acadmy, Chennai. She is a recipient of the Nada Oli title presented by Nada Inbam Chennai, the Kalki Krishnamoorthy Award and the MLV Endowment award by Narada Gana Sabha instituted by CMANA, USA. She was awarded Semmagudi 90th Birthday Scholarship year 2000.
Some of her landmark concert tours include the Cleveland Aradhana 2005 and Toronto, the concert for SIFAS Singapore in 2007, The Swathi Sangeetha Archana concert at The Royal Kuthiramlika Palace, Thiruvanandapuram and The M.S.Subhalakshmi Award from Shanmukananda Mumbai.
She has been traveling extensively in India and abroad presenting various concerts and a number of thematic concerts on different composers and presenting lecture demonstrations. A number of CDs and Cassettes of her recordings and live concerts have been released.
